Shocking but true: The 2024 NAEP report reveals ongoing challenges in reading proficiency among Black students. In 2022, only 17% of Black fourth graders were proficient in reading, compared to 33% overall, highlighting a significant achievement gap.

This is especially concerning as AI, driven by reading and writing skills, becomes more prevalent.

So, what do we do?

Effective reading instruction requires five key components: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.

HEPH programming answers this call by engaging kids where they live, leading to higher engagement and improved learning outcomes.

By supporting Literacy Lift-Off: The 1 Million Child Initiative, you help bridge this gap and empower students. Your donation provides the tools they need to succeed and contribute meaningfully to our world.

Empowering Learners Step-by-Step:

  • Our program engages learners through games and stories they love.

  • Combines elements with literacy techniques like phonics and the Wilson Reading System.

  • Encourages students to sound out letters, blend them together, read and write words, and progress to sentences and paragraphs.

  • Integrates interactive elements and narratives for a strong literacy foundation.

  • Guided by our proven, award-winning pedagogy that achieves 95% engagement and 75% of our learners advance in math and reading.
